DureX Incorporation

CNC Machining Services

Since 1946 | Aerospace, Medical, Defense, Automotive & More | Tolerances to +/-0.0001

Durex Inc. has been delivering precision machining services since 1946, with nearly 80 years of manufacturing experience operating out of our 120,000 sq. ft. facility in Union, NJ.

We specialize in CNC vertical machining and Swiss CNC machining for industries where precision is non-negotiable: aerospace, medical devices, defense, automotive, and industrial OEMs who require tight tolerances held consistently from prototype through full production runs.

Our full-service facility runs multiple shifts and supports simultaneous production for numerous clients, giving us the capacity to move fast without cutting corners.

We work with a wide range of metals and engineered plastics, including 6061 and 7075 aluminum, 303 and 316 stainless steel, and high-performance materials like PEEK and Delrin, with most stocked in-house and ready to cut.

As one of the largest and most diversified custom metal fabricators on the East Coast, Durex offers something most CNC machine shops cannot: complete cradle-to-grave capability under one roof, from design and prototyping through machining, finishing, and assembly, all backed by ISO 9001:2015 certification.

Services We Offer

CNC Milling

Durex operates state-of-the-art CNC mills with automatic tool exchange capability, eliminating production pauses and enabling fast, uninterrupted runs for both prototype and high-volume orders.

Our mills handle 3-axis through 5-axis work, giving us the range to produce simple flat parts as well as components with complex multi-surface geometry in a single setup.

Simple parts can move from programming to finished product in hours, while our machinists continuously inspect, align, and verify code throughout every run.

We work with steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and engineered plastics, all sourced and stocked in-house for consistent material quality across every job.

CNC Turning / Lathe Work

CNC turning is a core part of our machining capabilities, handling the shafts, cylinders, and rotationally symmetric components that aerospace, automotive, and industrial clients regularly require.

Our turning operations accommodate a wide range of materials including stainless steel (303, 304, 316), aluminum (6061, 7075), carbon steel, brass, and copper, with finish options from standard to tight-tolerance ground surfaces.

The scale of our 120,000 sq. ft. facility allows us to run milling and turning simultaneously, for the same client or multiple clients at once, without bottlenecks.

Every turned part goes through first-piece inspection before full production begins, ensuring dimensions are locked before we scale.

CNC Grinding

Our grinding operations deliver the surface finish and dimensional accuracy required by clients in medical device, aerospace, and precision industrial applications.

We perform both surface and cylindrical grinding to achieve tolerances that standard milling and turning alone cannot reach, supporting final part specifications where fit, finish, and function are all critical.

Critical dimensions are identified early in our process and made tool-controlled wherever possible to ensure repeatability across production runs.

Custom gauges and fixtures are used throughout to monitor grinding operations and catch any deviation before it reaches the finishing stage.

Multi-Axis Machining

Our Swiss CNC machining capability gives Durex a significant advantage for clients requiring small, intricate, high-precision components.

Swiss CNC machines operate on up to 5 axes simultaneously, compared to the standard 3, enabling maximum articulation and detail on complex parts without multiple setups or repositioning.

This multi-axis capability directly reduces lead times by consolidating operations that would otherwise require several separate machining steps.

Industries including aerospace, medical device, defense, and automotive regularly rely on our multi-axis machining for the tight-tolerance, small-format parts their applications demand.

Secondary Operations

Once machining is complete, Durex handles all secondary operations in-house: deburring, tapping, hardware insertion, and thorough dimensional inspection before any part moves to finishing or ships to the customer.

Our Quality Control Department participates at every stage, performing first article approval and first piece inspection for every manufacturing process step.

We maintain listings with UL, ETL, and NSF, ensuring parts built to those specifications comply with all outlined requirements, a value-added service most machine shops cannot offer. From deburring through final QC sign-off, every part leaves our facility having passed the same rigorous process regardless of order size.

Materials We Machine

At Durex Inc., our metal machining services cover a broad range of materials, from common structural alloys to high-performance engineered plastics.

Decades of experience working across demanding industries means we understand not just how to cut these materials, but when and why each one is the right choice for your application.

Material

Grades

Why We Machine It

Aluminum

6061, 7075, 2024

The go-to material for aerospace components, enclosures, and structural brackets where weight reduction is critical without sacrificing strength. 7075 is a particular strength in our shop for high-stress aerospace and defense applications.

Stainless Steel

303, 304, 316

Ideal for applications requiring corrosion resistance and surface integrity. Grade 316 is our standard recommendation for medical device and food-grade components where contamination risk must be eliminated.

Carbon Steel / Tool Steel

A2, D2, 4140

The material of choice for high-wear tooling, dies, fixtures, and structural parts that need to hold up under heavy load or repeated stress cycles.

Titanium

Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)

Used primarily for medical implants, aerospace structural components, and defense hardware where the strength-to-weight ratio of steel simply isn’t good enough.

Plastics

Delrin, PEEK, Nylon

Engineered plastics machined for applications requiring electrical insulation, chemical resistance, or lightweight assemblies. PEEK is our most requested plastic for medical and high-temperature industrial applications.

Copper / Brass

C110, C360

Specified for electrical conductivity applications, RF shielding components, and fluid system fittings where machinability and conductivity both matter.

Not sure which material is right for your application? Our engineering team provides material guidance during the quoting process at no additional cost; it’s part of how we work.

Industries We Serve

Durex Inc. has spent nearly 80 years earning the trust of manufacturers and engineers across some of the most demanding industries in the country. Our full-service capabilities, ISO 9001:2015 certification, and cradle-to-grave production model make us a natural fit for clients who cannot afford quality failures at any stage of the supply chain.

Aerospace & Defense

Aerospace and defense components leave no room for error; tolerances must be held, materials must be traceable, and documentation must be airtight. Durex machines aluminum alloys, titanium, and high-strength steels to the precise specifications that aerospace contractors and defense suppliers require, backed by a Quality Control Department that is involved at every stage of production.

Medical Device Manufacturing

Medical components demand the tightest tolerances, the cleanest finishes, and full compliance with industry standards. We regularly machine 316 stainless steel, titanium, PEEK, and Delrin for medical device clients, with first article inspection and in-process quality checks built into every job. Our UL, ETL, and NSF listings provide an additional layer of compliance assurance for clients operating in regulated environments.

Electronics & Enclosures

Precision-machined enclosures, housings, and electrical components require both dimensional accuracy and material consistency across production runs. Durex machines aluminum, copper, and brass to the specifications that electronics manufacturers depend on, whether that means tight-tolerance enclosure walls, RF shielding components, or custom hardware for electro-mechanical assemblies.

HVAC & Industrial Equipment

Industrial equipment manufacturers need a machining partner who can handle high volumes without sacrificing consistency. Our scalable production model, supported by a large facility, multiple shifts, and a full lineup of CNC equipment, means we can accommodate the kind of ongoing, repeat-order relationships that HVAC and industrial OEMs rely on to keep their own production lines running.

Automotive / Transportation

Automotive components require precise repeatability from part one to part ten thousand. Durex has served transportation industry clients for decades, producing shafts, brackets, housings, and custom components in steel, aluminum, and brass with the dimensional consistency and on-time delivery that automotive supply chains demand.

Government & Military Contracts

Government and military procurement requires suppliers who can demonstrate documented quality systems, material traceability, and consistent compliance with specifications.

Durex’s ISO 9001:2015 certification, first article approval process, and decades of experience working to strict industry standards position us as a reliable partner for government and military contract work.

Our Quality Standards

At Durex Inc., quality is not a final inspection step, it is a discipline built into every phase of our precision engineering machining services, from the moment a design is reviewed to the moment a finished part ships. Our Quality Control Department is an active participant at every stage of engineering and production, not a downstream checkpoint.

Certifications

Durex Inc. is certified to ISO 9001:2015, the internationally recognized standard for quality management systems. We also maintain listings with UL, ETL, and NSF, ensuring that products built to those specifications comply fully with all outlined requirements.

These certifications are not wallpaper. They represent the documented processes, audit trails, and continuous improvement commitments our team operates under every day.

Our QC Process

Every job at Durex follows a structured, repeatable quality process:

  • F.A.I.R. (First Article Inspection Report) submittal is standard practice for new jobs, giving customers full dimensional and material verification before production volume begins
  • First piece inspection is performed for every manufacturing process step — if the first piece isn’t right, production doesn’t start
  • Critical dimensions are identified early and made tool-controlled wherever possible, building quality into the process rather than relying solely on end-of-line inspection
  • Custom gauges and fixtures are utilized throughout production to monitor process consistency and catch deviation in real time
  • In-process checks are performed at every stage, not just at the start and finish of a run

Inspection Equipment

Our Quality Control Department is equipped to verify the tight tolerances our customers require across materials, part geometries, and production volumes.

Equipment includes coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and optical inspection systems capable of verifying dimensions to +/-0.0001, the standard we hold ourselves to on every precision job.

Our Commitment

At Durex, we do what we say and say what we do. That is not a tagline; it is the operating standard that has kept customers coming back for nearly 80 years.

Every part that leaves our facility has been inspected, documented, and approved against the job’s specific requirements before it ever reaches your dock.

Why Choose Durex for Custom CNC Machining Services

There is no shortage of machine shops on the East Coast. Here is why manufacturers, engineers, and procurement teams keep choosing Durex — and why they rarely look elsewhere after the first job.

One Vendor. No Handoffs.

Most machine shops do one thing. Durex does everything. CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, metal stamping, welding, finishing, assembly, and shipping all happen under one roof at our 120,000 sq. ft. facility in Union, NJ.

That means no coordinating between vendors, no quality gaps between operations, and no finger-pointing when something needs to be fixed. One call, one contact, one accountable partner from raw material to finished product.

NJ-Based With East Coast Lead Time Advantages

Our Union, NJ location puts us within a day’s drive of the majority of the East Coast manufacturing corridor — from Boston to Baltimore and beyond.

For customers who need fast turnaround, on-site visits, or same-region logistics, proximity matters. We are not a fulfillment center shipping from across the country. We are a real shop with real people you can walk through.

Prototype to Full Production Volume

Whether you need five parts to validate a design or fifty thousand parts to fill a production order, Durex scales to meet you.

Our capacity, equipment lineup, and multi-shift operation mean we can support the full lifecycle of a part — from early-stage prototyping through long-run production — without asking you to find a new vendor as your volumes grow.

Nearly 80 Years of Manufacturing Experience

Durex has been in continuous operation since 1946. That is nearly eight decades of machining, problem-solving, and delivering for customers in the most demanding industries in the world.

That experience shows up in the form of fewer surprises, faster troubleshooting, and the kind of institutional knowledge that only comes from doing this work for generations.

Engineering Support During Quoting — DFM Feedback Included

When you submit an RFQ to Durex, you are not just getting a price. Our team reviews your design for manufacturability before quoting, flagging potential issues that could affect cost, lead time, or part performance.

This DFM feedback is included at no additional charge — it is simply how we work, and it has saved our customers significant time and money over the years.

ISO 9001:2015 Certified Quality: Every Job, Every Time

Our ISO 9001:2015 certification is not limited to certain product lines or certain customers. Every job that runs through our facility operates under the same documented quality system, the same inspection protocols, and the same standard of accountability.

When you source from Durex, you are sourcing from a shop where quality is a way of life — not a department you hope gets involved.
