Swiss CNC Machining: Advanced Machining Centers for Small, Intricate Parts

Our Swiss CNC department handles the parts that push conventional turning to its limits. Swiss-style machines guide bar stock through a guide bushing, keeping the workpiece rigidly supported at the point of cut regardless of length. The result is micron-level accuracy on long, slender features that would deflect and chatter on a standard lathe.

Swiss CNC Capabilities Box:

  • Max bar stock diameter: up to 32mm
  • Up to 9 axes of simultaneous motion
  • Standard tolerance: ± .0002″
  • Typical applications: surgical pins, dental components, hydraulic fittings, miniature shafts
  • Industries served: Medical, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive

The multi-axis capability also means milling, drilling, and threading operations run in the same cycle — eliminating secondary setups and compressing your lead time.

Advanced Milling Capacity: Multi-Axis CNC Machining Centers

Our milling department runs 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers capable of producing complex contoured surfaces, compound angles, and deep-pocket geometry in a single setup. Five-axis machining is especially powerful for aerospace brackets, medical housings, and automotive components that require multiple intersecting features without repositioning.

Milling Highlights:

  • 3, 4, and 5-Axis capacity
  • Large-envelope work up to 40″ x 20″ x 20″
  • Simultaneous multi-surface machining reduces setup time
  • Tight-tolerance milling to ± .0005″

CNC turning runs parallel to milling in our facility. Live-tooling turrets let us combine turning, milling, and drilling in one operation for shafts, fittings, and cylindrical housings.

Prototyping and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

Our process starts long before a single chip is cut. When clients bring us a CAD file, our applications engineers review it for manufacturability — identifying features that add cycle time or cost without adding function. This DFM review can meaningfully reduce your per-part cost and compress your production schedule before you commit to tooling.

Prototyping Process:

  • CAD review and DFM feedback — we optimize your design for our machines
  • First-article inspection with full dimensional report
  • Iterative refinement until the prototype meets every specification
  • Seamless transition to full-scale production with zero re-programming

Design hiccups discovered late in production cost far more than those caught during prototyping. We build the review stage into every new project.

Strategic Proximity for NJ & NYC Manufacturers

DureX Inc. is positioned at the center of one of the densest manufacturing corridors in the United States. Our New Jersey facility offers a meaningful logistical advantage to:

  • NJ Medical Device Corridor: Quick-turn prototyping and production for Class II and Class III device components. Tight-tolerance implants, surgical housings, and catheter components are a core strength.
  • Tri-State Aerospace & Defense Firms: Flight-critical components and defense hardware requiring strict traceability and documentation. AS9100 compliance guidance available on request.
  • NYC & NJ Automotive Suppliers: High-mix, moderate-volume runs for powertrain, chassis, and EV drivetrain components with rapid turnaround.

Proximity means faster freight, easier plant visits, and the ability to coordinate on short-notice engineering changes without the delays of cross-country shipping.

Industry Proof Blocks

■  Medical Devices

Tight-tolerance implants, surgical housings, and catheter components.

We produce medical-grade parts in biocompatible alloys including titanium and stainless steel, with full dimensional inspection documentation for your device file.

■  Aerospace

AS9100-aligned flight-critical components and structural assemblies.

Five-axis capability handles the compound-angle geometry common in brackets, housings, and actuator bodies. Full material certifications and first-article reports provided.

■  Defense

Precision components for systems that cannot fail.

Our team is experienced with MIL-SPEC documentation requirements, traceability, and the tight tolerances demanded by defense subsystem integrators.

■  Automotive

High-mix, production-volume parts for powertrain and chassis applications.

Swiss CNC handles small precision fittings; our milling centers tackle larger structural components. We scale with your program as volume grows.

Quality Control and Industry Certifications

DureX Inc. operates a dedicated Quality Control Department that inspects every order against your print before it ships. Our QC team uses CMM inspection, surface profilometry, and visual inspection protocols appropriate to your industry requirements.

When evaluating CNC machine shops in New Jersey, quality documentation is as important as machining capability. We maintain the certifications and standards required by our most demanding customers in aerospace and medical devices, and we apply the same rigor to every order regardless of size.
